And this has gone on for 8 years now with a variety of items, some you would never imagine would be possible to do. It had a ton of crazy items for participants to do, creative items (I remember doing a potato stone landmark – not Stonehenge – for a friend of mine since I couldn’t participate), and heartfelt items. ![]() The following year began the first annual GISHWHES. (What celebrity actually sends their fans something? Apparently Misha does.) He really did send people pieces of his rhinoceros – puzzle pieces with fun activities for them to do and send pictures back. And missed out on my chance to actually get a piece of a rhinoceros from Misha Collins himself. Personally, I thought it was a great joke. In 2010 Misha Collins, founder of GISHWHES and Random Acts, put out to Supernatural fans that if they would send him a self-addressed envelope, he would send them a piece of the rhinoceros he earned for helping Supernatural win in the People’s Choice Awards – given to him by Warner Bros publicist Holly Ollis. But hurry!! July 15th is the final day to register! The Beginning of GISHWHES Can’t afford the registration fee? Sign up for a Gisholarship! You’re not guaranteed to get one, as it’s done by those who give extra for others to participate, but at least you have a chance. It does cost money to sign up for GISHWHES, with proceeds going towards the prizes and charities, and there are multiple tiers of registration. This list does not come out until the scavenger hunt officially begins, so no prep work beforehand. Teams of 15 people from all over the world have about 200 items they can attempt to accomplish which always include at least one Stormtrooper, charity items, artwork, Twitter, clothes made out of non-fabric items, the military/veterans, the elderly (sometimes even including his mother’s nursing home), feminine hygiene item sculptures, and more. So if you see some weird people out during that week, they’re probably just Gishers. This year GISHWHES – the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen – takes place from July 27th until August 3rd. Here we go.GISHWHES, that crazy international scavenger hunt that leaves normal people wondering what the heck is going on as people around them walk in pineapple shoes, dress up in flowers, have pool parties in dumpsters, and so much more. ![]() ![]() Oh, who am I kidding-it's so I can go back through them whenever I need a laugh. I've compiled below all of our entries so others can enjoy our week of hijinks. But especially the folks we got paired with-an amazing trio from the west coast, team Bassackwards: Kristin, Nancy, and Matthew and a group of artists extraordinaire from Finland, team MoonTV: Minttu, Juho, Jarkko, Tilia, Daniela, and Hanna. Louis people I joined with of course, team FluffyPanda: Ashleigh, Melissa, Joanna, and Travis. (Turns out the contest is run by one of the show's stars.)įortunately, I stumbled into an excellent team. When I first looked at the scavenger hunt list, I remember thinking how weird it was that the organizers were so obsessed with the T.V. I didn't have a clue what G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S. Fortunately, I have a patient husband-and a career in academia, which prepared me for extreme sleep deprivation. In the end, it was one of the most exhausting weeks of my life. She lured me in with promises of adventure and glory. In 2014 I decided to throw in my hat and participate in the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen (G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S.
